The Sony FE 8-14mm f/3.5 Fisheye G is Sony's first fisheye zoom for full-frame E-mount cameras, and it costs $1,598. It shoots a circular fisheye at 8mm and a full-frame (diagonal) fisheye at 14mm, both with a 180-degree view, and U.S. shipments began October 15, 2026.

Sony announced the lens (model SEL814G) on September 8. It's one of several Sony lenses landing this fall, alongside the delayed FE 600mm f/6.3 GM and 400mm f/4.5 GM.

What's special about a fisheye zoom?

Most fisheye lenses are fixed: you pick either a circular fisheye or a full-frame one. A zoom gives both in a single lens, plus everything in between. Sony says the 8-14mm range covers "circular fisheye at 8 mm through diagonal fisheye at 14 mm."

That's useful for skateboarding and action sports, tight interiors, sky-dome astrophotography, and 360-degree or VR work.

What features does it have for video?

  • Inner zoom, so the center of gravity barely moves on a gimbal
  • Suppressed focus breathing and quiet AF
  • Linear Response MF for precise manual pulls
  • Aperture ring with click stops you can switch off
  • Zoom lock and focus-mode switches

Sony also says two lenses on its VENICE Extension System Mini sit about 64mm apart, close to human eye spacing, for spatial (3D) capture.

Who should buy it?

It's aimed at full-frame Sony shooters who want creative distortion or very wide coverage without carrying two fisheye lenses. Cheaper fixed fisheyes from third parties exist, but they lack this lens's autofocus, zoom range and weather resistance.
