The Panasonic Lumix S 20mm f/2.5 is a tiny full-frame ultra-wide prime that costs $497.99 and is due to ship October 28, 2026. It weighs just 142 grams, is weather sealed, and was designed to match the compact Lumix S9.
Panasonic announced it on September 16. It arrives as Lumix celebrates its 25th anniversary, and it gives L-mount users a cheaper, lighter option than Sigma's 20mm f/2.

The Sigma gathers a bit more light, but the Panasonic is less than half the weight and much shorter. For a camera as small as the S9, that difference matters.
What is it good for?
At 20mm, it covers landscapes, architecture, interiors, street scenes and vlogging at arm's length. The close 0.18m minimum focus allows dramatic near-far compositions. The weather sealing and fluorine-coated front element make it a practical travel lens.
What extras does it have on the Lumix S9?
The lens has a customizable focus ring and Fn button. With the S9's latest firmware, PetaPixel reports these can trigger functions such as Crop Zoom, which effectively gives you a longer field of view from the same lens.
