Can Evloev beat Volkanovski?
This is the first meeting between them.
| Volkanovski | Evloev | |
|---|---|---|
| Age | 37 | 32 |
| Country | Australia | Russia |
| Status | Champion, second defense since regaining belt | No. 1-ranked contender, 20-0 |
| Last fight | Win over Diego Lopes (second straight) | Decision over Lerone Murphy, UFC London, March |
Volkanovski lost the belt to Ilia Topuria by knockout in February 2024, then won it back after Topuria moved up. He has already been in one UFC trilogy, a three-fight series with Max Holloway.
Evloev has never lost as a pro. His wrestling-heavy, decision-winning style makes him hard to beat, and hard to look spectacular against.
Why is Yan vs. Dvalishvili 3 such a big deal?
Each man has won once, and both fights were for high stakes. ESPN counts it as the UFC's 20th trilogy.
| Fight | Result |
|---|---|
| 1 (2023) | Dvalishvili def. Yan, decision |
| 2 (UFC 323, Dec. 2025) | Yan def. Dvalishvili, unanimous decision, wins title |
| 3 (UFC 333) | Saturday |
Between those fights, Dvalishvili took the title from Sean O'Malley and became one of the busiest champions in the sport. Yan, according to Bleacher Report, is going for a fifth straight win.
What else is happening in the UFC this week?
At Saturday's UFC Fight Night, Jasmine Jasudavicius outpointed Erin Blanchfield, and Mike Malott knocked out Joaquin Buckley with a knee, according to ESPN.
