Quentin Tarantino says he has written the script for his 10th and final film, but he isn't going to make it yet. "I've written a script that I really like," he said on The Graham Norton Show, adding that he wants to finish his first stage play and then "spend time with my family and live a little" first.
He gave no title, plot, cast or start date.

Has Tarantino really written his 10th movie?
By his own account, yes. He made the comments on a recent episode of The Graham Norton Show alongside Ellen DeGeneres, Colin Farrell and Gemma Chan, Variety reported. He said only that the script exists and that he likes it, and that he will hold it until after the play.
That is the clearest sign yet of what comes after Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Tarantino has said for years that his 10th feature will be his last as a director, so this script is, as things stand, the final Quentin Tarantino film.
When will it be made?
Not before mid-2027, and possibly later. Tarantino's stated plan is:
- Stage The Popinjay Cavalier in London.
- Take time with his family.
- Then decide on his next step.
He did not commit to a timeline, and no studio has announced the project.
What is The Popinjay Cavalier?
It is Tarantino's first stage play, which he is also directing. Sacha Baron Cohen stars, in his West End debut.
- Theatre: the Phoenix Theatre, London
- Previews: from February 23, 2027
- Opening night: March 18, 2027
- Closing: June 13, 2027
- Producers: Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sonia Friedman Productions
It began as a screenplay. Tarantino said the story, which he described as jumping off from the swashbuckling movie genre with a French-farce quality, "really worked as a play." "I think it will be thrilling," he said.
"When the best director in the world calls, you don't ask questions," Baron Cohen told the AP.
What happened to The Movie Critic?
The Movie Critic was long expected to be the 10th film. Tarantino dropped it in 2024 before cameras rolled. The new script is a different project.
Isn't The Adventures of Cliff Booth his next film?
Not as a director. Tarantino wrote The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a Once Upon a Time in Hollywood spin-off with Brad Pitt back as the stuntman, but David Fincher directed it for Netflix. It doesn't count toward Tarantino's 10. It is scheduled for an IMAX release in late November and a Netflix debut in December.
What to watch
A title. Tarantino has not named the project or said when he will.
A studio. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was made with Sony, which is also producing the play.
Whether he keeps to 10. Nothing he said this week suggests a change to his plan to stop after the 10th film.
Published Sunday, October 18, 2026. Tarantino's comments are from The Graham Norton Show as reported by Variety and Far Out; play details are from the production's announcement as reported by AP and Variety.
