When does Godzilla Minus Zero come out in the US?
November 6, 2026. Toho and GKIDS confirmed the dates, Popverse and The Outerhaven reported. The three-day gap is far shorter than the wait for Minus One, which opened in Japan in early November 2023 but didn't reach US theaters until December 1, 2023.
GKIDS first announced the November 6 date on January 9, 2026, when it was revealed as the North American distributor.
Who made Godzilla Minus Zero?
The core team behind Minus One is back:
- Takashi Yamazaki writes, directs and supervises the visual effects
- Toho Studios and ROBOT produce
- Shirogumi Inc. handles VFX, as it did on Minus One
That continuity matters. Minus One's effects, made on a fraction of a Hollywood budget, won the Academy Award for best visual effects in March 2024, a first for the franchise.
What do we know about the story?
Almost nothing. A teaser poster was released alongside the date announcement, and Popverse described it as simple and striking while revealing nothing about the plot. Toho has not announced a cast list in the coverage reviewed.
Treat online claims about returning characters or a new monster as rumour until Toho publishes a trailer or synopsis.
Why is Godzilla Minus Zero such a big deal?
Godzilla Minus One was a phenomenon. It became one of the most successful Japanese live-action films ever released in North America, earned rave reviews for its post-war drama and won an Oscar. The sequel is one of the most anticipated non-Hollywood films of the year.
It also opens into a crowded November, two weeks before The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. See our full guide to the biggest movies coming out for the rest of 2026.
How do I get tickets for Godzilla Minus Zero?
Watch GKIDS' official channels and the major chains (AMC, Regal, Cinemark) for presales. Formats and subtitled versus dubbed showings had not been detailed in the coverage reviewed.
